I love watching "The Newsroom" on HBO. It makes me so...nostalgic.  I quite possibly have the quote of the year from last night's episode:
Will: I'm on a mission to civilize.
Charlie: How's it going so far?
Will: Progress is slow: But I'm in it for the long haul.
And another classic from last night:
Charlie: Have you read the New York Post?
Will: No. My eyes are connected to my brain

Special thanks to TVfanfare.com for the quotes. My outrage? Why are reviews so harsh? The acting is excellent, the writing is well, Sorkin-worthy and the newsroom vibe is spot on. My friends and most of the user reviews I've read love the show. It's just the "critics" who are in or semi-in the field that seem to be holding it to a Fourth Estate standard that the average viewer doesn't seem to notice.

So no, it's not "real time" or even that realistic in parts. Believe me, there'd be nothing entertaining about that. Plus, that would be a documentary - not a drama series. So far, the key moments are all there. And the "Republicans" who feel like it's biased - wow, that's a shock. Will started with the Tea Party - he's just beginning to scratch the surface. And the attack isn't on the GOP - it's on the Fourth Estate. As it should be.

The number of people who think they "know" something - and who turn out to be factually wrong - is beyond counting at this point. And SOMETHING has to stop it. If this hour once a week even in the smallest way sheds light on that national epidemic - and the media's responsibility for it - that's progress in my book.
